Philosophy of Mind/Philosophy of Science

The Department of Philosophy at the University of Victoria invites applications for a tenure track, Assistant Professor position to begin 1 July 2017. Area of specialisation: philosophy of mind or philosophy of science. Area of competence: open, but broad philosophical interests are assets. Duties will include research, undergraduate and graduate instruction and administrative service. The successful applicant will have the potential to be a superior researcher and an excellent teacher.

Requirements
Applicants should hold a PhD in Philosophy by time of appointment. Ideal candidates will have begun publishing and will have a well-articulated research and publication plan. The Department seeks a candidate who can offer undergraduate and graduate courses in philosophy of mind or philosophy of science and who can also teach introduction to philosophy, critical thinking and basic logic. Candidates should supply evidence of their approach to pedagogy and their preparedness to teach excellent courses. In addition, the successful candidate should be able to supervise MA and PhD students in philosophy of mind or philosophy science and should be able assist the supervision of students in related fields.
